Week 14: The Last Lecture
This course will offer you an opportunity to reflect on your life as
it is and plan for the life and future of your dreams. In this course, you’ll learn how to dream big
and set goals that will help you to accomplish the vision of the life you want
to have. An important piece of that
vision is your entrepreneurial and career goals. How do these goals fit into the bigger
picture of your personal and family life?
You’ll learn how to set boundaries and guardrails that will help you
safeguard the things that matter most to you—like your family relationships, your
relationship with Heavenly Father and your personal integrity.
This course helped me to look beyond the day-to-day and start to
daydream and visualize the life that I want to have with my family in 5 or 10
years and even in 25 years. What do I
need to start doing or stop doing in order to achieve my short-term and
long-term goals? It’s easy to become complacent
and keep living the same life over and over, but this course helped me to
realize that I need to be deliberate in establishing habits and routines that
will help me become the person that Heavenly Father wants me to be.
When considering entrepreneurship, you will want to examine your
motives and intentions. The world says
that money can make you happy and that the more money you have, the
better. This course taught me about how
Heavenly Father feels about the pursuit of riches and what I can do to make
sure that my heart and intentions are in the right place. I learned that not only should I be concerned
with building my life and my family but that I can make a contribution in
building the kingdom of God.
This course does a great job of combining spiritual principles with
practical principles and application. It
set out a great pattern for learning, to balance the pursuit of secular
knowledge with spiritual understanding.
We learned from prophets and apostles as well as successful businessmen
and women and entrepreneurs. Together,
their advice and counsel provided a balanced foundation for all of those preparing
to set out on a business or entrepreneurial venture. My advice would be to take their counsel
seriously and allow it to change your heart and your life. We live in a time of great opportunity for
education and entrepreneurship and it is a blessing to learn from the wisdom
and experience of those that have gone before.
