Week 10: Dream Big Dreams
One
of the most influential things about this course for me has been that it has
encouraged and invited me to look to the future and dream big dreams.
Many of us are looking for permission to dream and to hope for our
future. For me, once I got through my early twenties and "checked
off" a lot of the important milestones like college, mission, marriage and
children I stopped looking ahead. I think the 20% rule that Google has
for their employees could be a good guideline for our lives, as well. I
spend so much time on my current to do list and don't often prioritize
planning, goal-setting or dreaming/visualizing for the future. When my
head is down and I'm simply going from one task to the next, it makes it
difficult to Think Big and look at the bigger picture. One of the
take-aways for me this week is to get better about setting time aside to dream
and think bigger. I need to
prioritize planning for the future.
It was extremely informative and insightful talking with my cousin-in-law about his entrepreneurship journey, the lessons he’s learned and the value he finds in chasing his dreams and pursuing his vision and passions. When others pursue their dreams and goals, it almost feels like they give you the permission and the license to pursue your own.
